Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

Department of Aviation

Welcome to the City of Austin Aviation Department. Providing quality service, Austin style for travelers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is our job. To fulfill this, we work daily to ensure a safe, clean, friendly, affordable, and efficient airport.

Our business plan is guided by the Aviation Department mission to provide quality airport facilities and services by focusing on our customers' needs, our employees work environment, continually improving our operations and preparing for the future.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport opened on May 23, 1999. Although the airport is relatively new, the Aviation Department has decades of experience. In 1958, it began overseeing Austin's City owned airport operations and maintenance. The Department has operated as a self-supporting entity since 1972. It does not receive any general fund subsidy and has paid for all general obligation debt issued from airport generated funds. We have earned a long list of awards and honors, and have a rich aviation history in Austin dating back to 1911.

More than 9 million passengers travel through Austin-Bergstrom annually. Again, our purpose is to provide them quality airport facilities and services and an affordable aviation experience to travelers. Those interested in employment at ABIA may receive more information from our jobs at the airport web page.
