AUSTIN, TEXAS – Summer travelers will have a chance to enjoy live music from some of Austin’s youngest entertainers as Austin-Bergstrom International Airport hosts its fifth annual “Kid Band Week.” From Monday, July 18 to Friday, July 22, 2011, young bands will play on the Asleep at the Wheel stage at Ray Benson’s Roadhouse near Gate 10. Five performances will be presented Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. “Kid Band Week” is made possible by Pepsi and airport concessionaire Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services (DNC).

Performances begin Monday, July 18 with solo artist Max Frost, a 19 year old who has had sweeping success with musical competitions and teen ensembles. A skilled guitar player, Frost has performed in venues such as The Backyard and Pecan Street Festival in Austin and The Roxy in L.A.

On Tuesday, July 19, singer/songwriter Kayla Way takes the stage with her guitar. Way began playing at age 13 and has been writing her original material since age 11.

Carson Brock will bring his progressive blues-rock band to the stage on Wednesday, July 20. A guitar player since the age of 4, Carson and his band have recently played a renowned international music festival in Germany and won 1st place in a National Association of Music Merchants Texas School Jam competition.

The Aviators return to the airport on Thursday, July 21. The rock group is made up of six students, ages 11 to 16 from the Natural Ear Music School. They got their name from their first ever gig, a performance at Austin-Bergstrom’s “Kid Band Week” in 2008.

Friday, July 22 the Rian C band takes the stage. Fifteen year old frontman Rian Castillo plays guitar, piano, and lead vocals with his twin Riley on drums, and 13 year old Brandon Vizcarra on bass guitar. The group plays a variety of country, rock, and a select variety of spanish and alternative music.

The stage is located near Gate 10 in Ray Benson’s Roadhouse. This is in the area of the airport past security checkpoints accessible to ticketed passengers only, currently an audience of approximately 26,000 passengers a day.
