AUSTIN, TEXAS – On July 21, 2011, the grand opening of a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station was celebrated at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Built and operated by Clean Energy Fuels Corp., the CNG station expands clean, green, domestic natural gas fueling opportunities for airport vehicles and the entire Central Texas region.

The station will be open 24/7 for public access, accepting major credit cards as well as Clean Energy fueling cards. It is located at 3100 ˝ Spirit of Texas Drive, located off of State Highway 71, taking the “Airport Cargo/Service Entrance” exit, and turning onto Spirit of Texas Drive.

The opening of the CNG station further strengthens the airport’s initiative to be easier on the environment. From electric consumption being reduced by over 1 million kilowatts in the past year to recycling in the terminal, and the Hilton Austin Airport Hotel’s national Green Seal award, Austin-Bergstrom is committed to reducing its environmental impacts. Airport parking shuttles, having used propane since the airport opened in 1999, are converting to CNG.

The new CNG station at Austin-Bergstrom is the second in Austin providing public access, joining the City of Austin’s Waste Services facility at 2514 Business Center Drive.

Austin-Bergstrom has nonstop service to 37 destinations in the U.S. and Mexico and served 8.7 million passengers in 2010. A complete listing of all nonstop flight destinations from Austin and the airlines that serve them is available on www.abia.org, click on 'airlines & flights.’ Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is among the top airports in North America, ranked third for customer service by the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Service Quality Survey.
