Austin airport receives latest Advanced Imaging Technology machines for passenger screening
AUSTIN, TEXAS – On Nov. 1, 2011, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport received its first Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) machine for passenger screening. The AIT machine will be placed at the passenger screening checkpoint adjacent to American Airlines ticketing. The AIT machine is part of a security screening enhancement roll out by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at 29 airports across the U.S.
The new imaging technology delivered to Austin will not be immediately operational and is the first of the AIT machines to be installed over the coming days. The machines are anticipated to gradually become operational for passenger screening a few days after installation.
The AITs deployed at Austin’s airport are the latest millimeter wave machines with new automated target recognition software.
