Sneak a peek at the new Austin municipal website

Austin's new website will launch soon, and residents have a chance to see it before anyone else.

Attend an AustinGO Redesign Sneak Peek and User Testing session, Nov. 29 - Dec. 7, and you will have a chance to explore the new City website and participate in a community focus group.

The AustinGO team and more than 30 City departments have worked hard for the last six months, creating a cutting edge open source content management system and recreating and reimagining the Website resources Austinites use to access City services and initiatives.

Participants will be given a list of tasks to complete on the site and data will be gathered on how they use the site. They will have free time to explore the site and participate in the debugging process. They can also share ideas for improvements and expansions for the site in the future.

Computer seating is limited, so come early to ensure a spot.

Austin's new website is cool - but you can help make it even cooler.

Uh, dudes and dudettes, it is a WEB SITE. And you require people to attend an in-person focus group where there is limited parking? I don't think you have yet grasped the whole idea of the web . . . if you really wanted to test the user experience you would post the damn thing and let people go through it and submit feedback online. We are in the age of technology now, in case you have not noticed lately.
