She served as President of the Austin Neighborhoods Council (ANC) which provided an opportunity to get to know Austinites all across the city and to become familiar with a broad range of issues. Under her leadership, ANC neighborhood membership doubled to include over 80 neighborhood associations across the city. Laura also served with several organizations dealing with areas of particular interest to her, including affordable housing and health and human service concerns. To relax, Laura tap dances with friends every Sunday, and enjoys the great jewels of Austin by regularly rowing on Lady Bird Lake and swimming at Barton Springs.
