City of Austin Seeks Short Films by local filmmakers

The City’s FACES OF AUSTIN program seeks short films by Austin-area filmmakers for its multimedia program. Select films will be premiered at a special screening in conjunction with the SXSW Community Film Screenings the weekend of March 10, 2012. Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on January 16, 2012.
FACES OF AUSTIN is an exhibition of short films with a local filmmaker point of view that reflects diverse faces, voices, and experiences that make up Austin’s unique identity. Individual works from the collection of Faces of Austin films can currently be viewed online, at City Hall, on Channel 6, and at special screenings throughout the year.
Selected films will be added to the permanent City Hall interactive video displays, aired periodically on Channel 6 throughout 2012, and will be added to the Channel 6 video-on-demand line-up.
Austin-area filmmakers of all experience levels are encouraged to apply by submitting an application and DVD version of their short film to Faces of Austin Coordinator, Kevin Shaw at kevin.shaw@austintexas.gov. FACES OF AUSTIN is a program of the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Growth and Redevelopment Services Office. The program debuted in 2005; this year marks the fifth year of showcasing Austin-made short films.
