The Austin Police Department will start accepting applications October 1st 2009 for an anticipated March 2011 cadet class. This will be a great opportunity for military personnel exiting the military in late 2010 or college students graduating in late 2010. Entry Testing for this class will start in January 2010 and will continue as needed in 2010. MILITARY personnel, if eligible will receive a monthly GI Bill stipend of up to $1400 for the first 11 to 12 months plus receive 21 college credits from Austin Community College upon completion of the police academy.

Refer to the recruiting webpage menu under "Hiring Process" for more information on the testing process and obstacle course. The Austin Police Dept. reserves the right to change the academy start date or the number of cadets that will be hired for the academy.
