City Transportation ProgramsAustin Strategic Mobility PlanThe Austin Strategic Mobility Plan is designed to identify and address the mobility needs that affect the economic vitality and quality of life of Austin. The mobility studies and public outreach will complement the City’s Comprehensive Planning Update process. Click here to go to the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan. The program will build on identified regional transportation projects by providing greater levels of information and data. The program also will enhance the City’s priority list for short and long term projects. The first phase of the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan resulted in $90 Million Mobility Bond passed by Austin voters in November 2010. Projects were submitted by citizens and agencies and prioritized according to key community values developed with public workshops and online surveys, and technical criteria assigned by engineering professionals. Central Austin Circulation Study Central Austin Circulation StudyFindings from this study confirm that the arterial network feeding central Austin is congested to the point of saturation during peak hours. The City is identifying short-term network modifications and actions to relieve immediate stresses within the transportation network, but the study also points to the need for a coordinated long-term approach to improve mobility for travelers accessing the central core of Austin.
