Audio

The male golden-cheeked warbler sings to establish and defend territory as well as to attract a female warbler for breeding. The song has been described as wheezy or buzzy, with an ascending and descending variation. One way to remember the warbler song while on the Preserve is by thinking of the phrase "lazy daisy". The warbler also makes a single sharp chipping note while foraging in trees. This is a good way to find females and young which do not sing.
