WashWise Rebate Program
|
Rebates for high efficiency clothes washers are still available. However, starting July 1, 2010, the water
portion of the Single-Family Residential rebate will be $50.00. Your rebate amount may include an additional
rebate of $50.00 offered by Texas Gas Service or Austin Energy. Both rebates are processed through one
application submitted to Austin Water.
|
To apply:
Purchase and install a qualifying washing machine to be eligible. See list of qualifying machines included
with the application PDF.
Submit your application with a copy of your receipt within 30 days of purchase or installation. (If your
installation is delayed, please include a dated delivery receipt with your application and purchase receipt)
Rebates will typically be issued within 6 to 8 weeks after submittal.
To be eligible for the water rebate, you must receive water from Austin Water Utility
or an eligible MUD.
Eligibility for the energy rebate depends on the type of water heat you have.
If you have an electric water heater, you must have Austin Energy service.
If you have a gas water heater, you must have Texas Gas Service and be within
the city limits of Austin (rate code: Austin I/S Res).
Propane water heaters are not eligible for the energy rebate.
Our rebate program is based on washers being in service for a minimum of five years; if you replace your
washer within five years, we cannot grant another rebate.
Program requirements are subject to change. Please make sure you download an updated version of the rebate
application from our website, rather than using an application provided by your vendor.
Please see specific guidelines and qualifying models
for commercial and multi-family
properties.

Recycle Your Old Clothes Washer
The City of Austin will recycle your old clothes washer.
Pay-As-You-Throw customers can set clothes washers out
during scheduled bulk collection. Clothes washers and other recyclable items are separated out for recycling. If
you do not want to wait for bulk collection pick-up or if you are not a Pay-As-You-Throw customer, you can drop your
old clothes washer off at the FM 812 Resource Recovery Center for recycling.
