Rosedale Storm Drain Improvements - Phase II

This project includes the installation of 7,700 linear feet of storm drain pipe or culvert down several streets in the Rosedale neighborhood, including Burnet Road by Ramsey Park, Lewis Lane and West 47th, West 46th, West 44th, West 42nd and West 40th Streets. In addition, 7,700 linear feet of water lines will be replaced and 3,850 linear feet of wastewater lines. At the end of the project, the streets that have been worked on will be repaved.

Project Purpose
Reduce flooding of houses, yards and streets from overloaded storm drain system.

Construction Updates 12/16/11

  • The much-needed rain has disrupted the construction schedule and delayed the repaving.
  • There will be no work on Saturday, December 24 and Sunday, December 25. However, there will likely be work on Friday, December 23 and on Monday, December 26.
  • 44th Street will be closed between Burnet and Rosedale, weather permitting, from December 19 to December 23. AT&T will be relocating their cables. The intersections will be open, and driveways will be accessible. If the work takes longer than a week, this work will resume on Tuesday, December 27.
  • Weather permitting, we are planning to repave 46th Street, Shoal Creek Blvd., and Shoalwood on Thursday, December 22 and Friday, December 23. 46th Street and Shoalwood will be closed. One side of Shoal Creek Blvd. will be closed at a time. The street is wide enough that there will still be room for two lanes of traffic.
  • We will have more information about the schedule for repaving 40th Street and Lewis Lane in the next few days.
  • Remaining work on 47th Street includes installation of the storm drain line from Ramsey to Burnet and installation of most of the inlets on the north side of the street. We will have more information on the schedule in the next few days.
  • The recent rain may create potholes in the temporary pavement. We will be monitoring the condition of the roads.
  • All time frames and dates are estimates only.

Repaving of 40th St., Lewis Lane, 46th St., Shoalwood and Shoal Creek Blvd.

  • We will distribute a flyer with important information and place temporary no parking signs up two days before paving begins.
  • During active repaving work, we need access to the street from curb to curb. Unfortunately, we will have to tow any cars parked on the street.
  • During active repaving work, there will be no access to driveways. We will knock on your door as early as 7 a.m. to give you a chance to move your vehicle out of your driveway. Once the work begins, you will not be able to move your vehicle out of your driveway until the end of the day.
  • Paving of 46th Street, Shoalwood, Shoal Creek Blvd., and the block of 40th between Lewis and Medical Parkway should take a day per block.
  • Paving of Lewis Lane and the block of 40th Street between Ramsey and Rosedale is more involved and may take a week or more per block. There will be several stages of the paving process with curing time between the different stages. After the first day's work, the road will be lower than normal. We will place ramps at the end of your driveway for access to the road.

Construction Time Frame
Feburary 2011 to June 2012

Public Meeting
October 24, 2011 at the Rosedale Neighborhood Association meeting. Check back for details.
Previous meeting was in January 2011.

Ramsey Park
This project is using a portion of Ramsey Park as a staging area. At the end of the project, any damage done to the park will be repaired, including aerating compacted soil and replacing damaged sidewalks, curbs and the outfield fence. In addition, to compensate for the inconvenience, the project will provide mitigation funds for improvements to the park.
